In the year 2012, one of his tweets regarding Pakistan was in many controversies.  In which Raina made a sarcasm when he was out after Pakistan's defeat in the semi-finals against Sri Lanka.  "Layed home for a couple of days!!! He also went like shameless...bye bye Pakistan!!!!."  However, later he deleted his tweet and clarified that the tweet was not made by him but by his nephew by mistake.  He also apologized for this act
